Tour Hours and Locations
Tours of our facilities are generally available during the following times:
- Tuesdays and Wednesdays: 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Noon to 1:30 p.m.
- Fridays: 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Additional tour times may be available upon request. Not all tours are appropriate for all ages. The three facilities below are currently offering tours to the corresponding age groups.
South Well Field
Grades 1 through 3
South Well Field water treatment facility is not a surface water plant. It is a facility fed by underground water. There are 19 large underground wells providing water for homes, schools and businesses within a 30 mile area around the facility. The South Well Field water treatment facility typically provides 15 MGD (million gallons a day) of clean fresh water.
White River
Grades 4 through 12
White River Water Treatment Plant is a facility fed by White River and the Broad Ripple Canal. White River water treatment facility typically provides an average of 70 MGD (million gallons a day) of clean fresh water to homes, schools and businesses in Indianapolis within a 10 mile area around the facility.
White River North
College Students and Professionals
White River North water treatment facility is fed by the White River. White River North typically provides 20 MGD (million gallons a day) of clean fresh water to homes, schools and businesses within a 20 mile area around the facility.
