Tours
We offer school and group tours of some of our water production facilities, designed to reach all age groups. Content will be presented in a developmentally appropriate manner for the age of the students. During tours, school groups in grades K-12 can expect to learn about a number of water quality, process and environmental issues, including:
- The water treatment process
- The water cycle
- Where water for the specific treatment facility comes from
- Contaminants
- Flocculation/Coagulation (addition of alum)
- Sedimentation (removal of solids)
- Chlorination (disinfection, killing of microbes)
- Where the water goes (storage/distribution)
- Water quality testing/regulations
- Wise water use - conservation
- Career opportunities
