Tours

We offer school and group tours of some of our water production facilities, designed to reach all age groups. Content will be presented in a developmentally appropriate manner for the age of the students. During tours, school groups in grades K-12 can expect to learn about a number of water quality, process and environmental issues, including:

  • The water treatment process
  • The water cycle
  • Where water for the specific treatment facility comes from
  • Contaminants
  • Flocculation/Coagulation (addition of alum)
  • Sedimentation (removal of solids)
  • Chlorination (disinfection, killing of microbes)
  • Where the water goes (storage/distribution)
  • Water quality testing/regulations
  • Wise water use - conservation
  • Career opportunities
